Paddling with the Manatees on the St Johns River Jan 28, 2015
Down from Iowa, we had the pleasure of 3 generations join us for a Winter Manatee tour. There was lots of Florida sunshine and the river welcomed us in all her glory. We got to watch the Great Blue Herons building their nest. As one brought branches and Spanish Moss in, the other tucked it away in the proper spot. There were Little Blue Herons, Anhingas (the famous Snake Bird) and Ospreys out fishing, Great Egrets and Wood Storks soaking up the sun. Out in the swamp we spied a few Gators and the Turtles were soaking up some rays too. The Manatees came out and greeted us with their noses and it was a fantastic morning to be on the river!
