With the crew from Nebraska all eyes looking for the wildlife June 9, 2015

We headed up the Wekiva River to find the wildlife and what we found was pretty cool. A mother Moorhen having a standoff with a small Gator that was eyeing her 3 youngsters. She put herself between the Gator and her babies and just started sounding off. A few new to the world Wood Ducks lit up in front of us and the we saw both Great Blue and Little Blue Herons in their adult and 1st year phases. The amazing Duck Weed has gone crazy on some of the river's edges- each tiny piece it's own plant. Times that by billions and it creates a lime green hue to the river. In the back bays we saw a Pileated Woodpecker, a nice big Gator along with the Swallow-tailed Kite, Great Egrets and others. It was a warm day with cool clear waters.
