Bird watching on the Wild and Scenic Wekiva River

There were at least 34 different kinds of birds hanging out on the Wekiva with us today. The Wood Storks and Limpkins were the standouts, the Anhingas and Little Blue Herons were the most abundant. King Fishers, Pied-billed Grebes and Eastern Phoebes are all down for the Winter and the Great Egrets, Great Blue, Tri-colored and Green Herons along with Snowy Egrets, White Ibis and Yellow-bellied Sap Suckers were all out feeding. The sky was Florida blue and it was a beautiful, peaceful day filled with Mother Nature’s decorations, great for some kayaking, photo taking and a little birding too.
