Kayaking with the birds of the Wekiva River

It was blue sky, white puffy clouds and plenty of wildlife on the Wekiva River this morning. A mother Moorhen with six chicks started out our paddling trip today. An Anhinga drying his wings was up next. Just past that a mid-sized Gator found himself a sunny spot and the sulfur spring in the middle of the river could be seen quite well. We heard then found a Limpkin sitting on the nest while in the back waters the Little Green Herons were plentiful. Another Limpkin was sounding off calling for its mate sitting in the blooming Air Plants. The “wild and scenic” designation of the Wekiva River was definitely apparent today!
