Doing a little Birding while paddling the Wekiva River - Mother Nature at her best!

The Wekiva River was high today after all the rain we got last week giving us access to some back water treats that are usually inaccessible. There were lots of Anhingas sitting on the branches drying their wings and the King Fishers are here now chasing each other around. The Bald Eagle perched in the tree was just waiting for an Osprey to catch him a fish to steel :-). Great Egrets, Great Blue Herons, Moorhens and Coots were all out feeding as were the Little Blue and Tri-colored Herons. The Apple Snails are busy laying their eggs on the Cattails and the Bald-faced Hornet's nest was certainly a sight to see. The colors of the river; Red Maples turning orange are a sure sign of the season's change... it was another great day on the river.
