Taking a break from the snow, doing a little Birding in Central Florida
It was a wonderland of Nature on the Wekiva River this morning. Alice and Mary Jo are down from MN for a few days of paddling and we couldn’t have ordered a more perfect day. There were Anhingas every hundred yards perched on overhanging branches, Great Egrets silently stalking their prey and groups of White Ibis probing the shallow vegetation. Little Blue, Great Blue, Tri-colored and Green Herons were out looking for brunch as were the Limpkins. The new leaves are popping on the Red Maples, Sweet Gum, Pop Ash and Elm Trees and the Red Maples are dropping their whirly-whirl seeds. The Air Plants are in bloom and it was a stunning place to be. We feel truly blessed to have this in our back yard!
