An awesome day of Birding near Orlando
There are several places to go birding near the Orlando area but the Lower Wekiva River rocks it! Justine and Kenny put the kayaks in at Katie’s Landing and headed off for what would be a banner day. Birding by kayak is an exceptional way to get up close to Mother Nature without disturbing her in action. The White Ibis and Wood Storks were out in droves. They spotted Great Blue, Tri-colored and Little Blue Herons, Great Egrets, Osprey, Limpkins and more. It’s always a good day when you get to visit with a family of Sandhill Cranes and find a juvenile Black Crowned Night Heron. With the weather turning cooler the migration has begun and this makes the Lower Wekiva River a fantastic birding spot. Several turtles and an Alligator came out to greet them as well. So if you find yourself near Orlando looking to do some birding check out the Lower Wekiva River or give us a shout we’ll hook you up on a tour #BirdingWithKenny.
